To produce the 2022, fruit from Simmons Vineyard was hand harvested, destemmed, given a five-day cold soak, then 25 days on skins and 18 months in five French barrels, two of them new. 14% alcohol. 96 cases.
Pepper, currant, a dry year.
The 2022 vintage was very dry after a slow spring. The long fall gave bright acidity and a fresh palate and fully ripened the Franc. This is jalapeño, tomato leaf, and currant — classic cool-climate Cabernet Franc.

Cadamatre MW
Nova and Brian Cadamatre met in 2000. Brian's line was, we should start a vineyard — my family in Italy did it, it cannot be that hard. After 15 years of planning they established a vineyard in the Finger Lakes and a tasting room in downtown Geneva, New York.
The name Trestle 31 comes from the railroad trestle that dominates the view from the top of the vineyard on Seneca Lake, and from tract 31 on the deed. Nova's mother, Linda Williams McCune, drew the label. Nova took Viticulture at Cornell, then California, then the MW in 2017 — the first American female winemaker to do it.
She still splits Napa and the Finger Lakes. The 2022s are the current JS Selections offer: Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Riesling, and Demi-Sec. Family estate. Lakes, not a Napa masquerade.

Cabernet Franc is what the Finger Lakes does when it is being itself: red and black fruit, pepper, a green-savor line, tannin that can carry a burger.
2022: destemmed, five-day cold soak, spontaneous start, FX10 to finish dry, basket press, malolactic in barrel, 18 months, two of five barrels new.
96 cases on the vintage notes. This is not a 12,000-case red. When the cases are gone, they are gone.
